”For
years I searched for someone to refurbish
my Steinway Baby Grand. One person told
me I had an inferior piano because the
legs did not match the piano, that someone,
at one time, must have switched the bottom
out. Another person tried to get me to
sell the piano to him at a dirt cheap
price.
After
moving to SD, I heard Russell's name
every time I looked for a piano rebuilder
referral. Russell was the only person
to promptly return my call, and make
an appointment. When he arrived and saw
the piano his eyes lit up and he said “Oh
my Gosh, that's an Art Case, and it's
very rare.”
The
Art Case I subsequently learned meant
that the legs (bottom) indeed did match
the piano, and added value to the piano.
The legs supporting the front of the
piano are double and specially carved.
I
instantly knew this was the person who
I could trust my piano to. The same night,
Russell called me with more astounding
news, that the value of this piano was
more than he had originally told me,
and they were no longer made in the states—if
someone wanted this specific model, they
would have to order it from Germany.
Russell
was swift with arranging pick-up and
doing the repairs. All of his subcontractors
were also extremely careful, and courteous,
which lended to Russell's credibility.
Russell was always ahead of the schedule
he had estimated, and always with extreme
courtesy. Visiting his shop was also
impressive, as it was obvious how impeccably
he does his work.
Our
visits with Russell reconfirmed my initial
impression, that this is his passion,
and because it is, the finished product
reflects his pride. It is more than just
a business to him.
We
have received numerous comments on the
results of the beauty of this magnificent
instrument. Russell gave it new life,
and in his words—it will last another
100 years before it needs to be done
again.
Our
appreciation of his talents, his follow
through on his commitments, and the resulting
pleasure and enjoyment cannot be adequately
expressed in words.
Thank
you Russell...we are forever grateful”
